About National Institute of Technology Warangal

National Institute of Technology Warangal, formerly known as Regional Engineering College (REC) Warangal, was established in 1959 as the first institution in the prestigious chain of National Institutes of Technology (formerly RECs) in India. The foundation stone was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru on October 10, 1959.

Over the decades, NIT Warangal has emerged as one of India’s premier engineering institutions, renowned for its academic excellence, research contributions, innovation-driven culture, and vibrant campus life. The institute is dedicated to achieving global standards in technical education through socially relevant curricula, innovative teaching methodologies, and holistic student development.

The institute has benefited from international collaborations and developmental support, including assistance from UNESCO, the United Kingdom, and the World Bank through the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP), which significantly contributed to strengthening its academic and research infrastructure.

Today, NIT Warangal comprises 13 academic departments and several advanced research centers spanning engineering, sciences, management, humanities, and allied disciplines. The campus features nearly 100 well-equipped laboratories, a state-of-the-art Central Library, the Centre for Digital Infrastructure and Services (CDIS), seminar halls, auditoriums, sports complexes, indoor game facilities, a modern dispensary, and extensive student activity spaces. Its distinguished faculty, talented student community, dedicated staff, and strong administrative support continue to uphold the institute’s legacy of excellence.

The institute offers:

  • 29 postgraduate programs including M.Tech., M.Sc., MCA, and MBA
